T.S.O.L. Unfortunately
I got the show a little late so I completely missed the first band. And I
only caught the final few songs of the next band Thrice. But but to my
luck I got to the Glasshouse in time to see the Bay band the Nerve Agents. I’ve
never heard of this group before. I had no idea what they would sound
like. When they began to play I realized that these guy’s knew what they
were doing. They were a five-piece hard-core punk rock group from up
North. They were similar to T.S.O.L. and Rudimentary Peni. The lead singer
knew how to scream his lungs out and it sounded fucking awesome. The whole
place loved these guy’s. They were the first group of the night that
really got the crowd going. They had an enormous mosh pit. The lead singer
bouncing off the walls, I’m surprised that I didn’t find a straw up
his nose. One of the things that surprised me about this bands set was
their cover song. They played “Evil” by 45 Grave. This has to be the
coolest song ever. They played it extremely well. The crowd went nuts with
this tune. I got
to know the guy’s pretty well when we did an interview. They live in
separate cites up North, like Oakland and surrounding cities. This makes
it difficult to get together for practice. The lead singer drives two
hours to make rehearsal. This band has a lot of devotion towards their
music. I would highly recommend that you check one of their show’s out. The room was anxious for these
guy’s to get on stage. As soon as Jack showed his face people began to
applaud. It’s T.S.O.L. for Christ’s sake. One of the greatest punk
rock groups ever. I was shocked when this group began to perform again. If
you have the opportunity to see these guy’s, then take advantage of
it!!! Tonight was a little different
for their set. They had a lot of new songs to be played and they spoke of
their new record that will be released soon on Nitro records. Of course
the place looked like a Loony Bin as people were bouncing off the walls
and the whole stage was crowded with tons of people. One of the things
that you will notice is that Jack, the lead singer of this group will make
numerous attempts to create live sex acts from the audience with the
incentive of fifty dollars per person. Of course you will have the random
slut flip up her top but as usual no one will fuck on stage. There were many members of
bands at this show. Rumor had it that Rick Agnew from the Adolescents was
their. On top of it all I met and interviewed Jello Biafra from the
infamous Dead Kennedy’s. That should be up on this site soon enough. As soon as you thought that the
show was to end T.S.O.L. hammered song after song. They said that they
were going to play every song that they had ever made, which they probably
did. Overall this night was rad. The atmosphere of the show was great as
well. If you missed this show then I feel sorry for you.
Farewell,
Danny McElwain
